Radiohead have released a huge collection of their unreleased tracks made at the time of their sessions for the 1997 album OK Computer, after thier recording archive owned by Thom Yorke got hacked last week, by someone who reportedly held the recordings and “demanded $150,000 on the threat of releasing it”.

Following the threat, the band made the 18 recordings, available on music streaming website Bandcamp for £18, money collected from which will go to the climate activists Extinction Rebellion.

The band’s guitarist Jonny Greenwood as quoted by The Guardian, said “Instead of complaining – much – or ignoring it, we’re releasing all 18 hours on Bandcamp in aid of Extinction Rebellion. Just for the next 18 days. So for £18 you can find out if we should have paid that ransom. Never intended for public consumption it’s only tangentially interesting. And very, very long. Not a phone download.”
