The Ghajini girl, Asin Thottumkal turns 35 on October 25. The actor went on to act in Telugu and Tamil films before foraying into Bollywood. She ruled the Tamil film industry for about five years, acting in films like “M. Kumaran S/O Mahalakshmi”, “Ghajini”, “Varalaru,” Pokkiri,” “Vel” and “Dasavathaaram.”
Making her acting debut in Sathyan Anthikkad’s Narendra Makan Jayakanthan Vaka (2001), Asin had her first commercial success with Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi in 2003 and won a Filmfare Award for the Best Telugu Actress for the film.
The actor is also trained in Bharatanatyam and Kathakali.
After several critically and commercially successful films, she received her second South Filmfare Award for Best Actress for her performance in her second Tamil film, Ghajini (2005). She played the lead female roles in two consecutive top grossers, Ghajini (2005) which is her biggest commercial success to date, and the action-comedy Varalaru (2006) and this way has established herself as one of the most prominent leading actresses of South Indian cinema.
She went on to act in films like “Ready” opposite Salman Khan, “Housefull 2”, “Bol Bachchan” and “Khiladi 786.”
Before entering movies, Asin was a part-time model and a businesswoman. The talented diva can speak not one, two but eight languages. In 2016, she tied the knots with business tycoon Rahul Sharma in a Christian wedding which was followed by a Hindu ceremony. Soon after her getting hitched, Asin took to Instagram, to announce that she has decided to quit the Showbiz industry to concentrate on her personal life.
The couple welcomed their first baby, daughter Arin back in October 2017. Even after quitting the showbiz life, Asin yet stays relevant with her endearing social media posts.
