Haritalika Teej 2023

Haritalika Teej 2023: On the third day of the bright fortnight (Shukla Paksha Tritiya) of the Hindu month of Bhadrapada, Hartalika Teej Vrat is observed. Devotees build sand-based idols of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati on this auspicious day and worship them in order to achieve marital happiness and children.

‘Hartalika Teej’ is the name of the event, and it comes from a folklore story related to it. ‘Hartalika’ is a mixture of the words ‘Harat’ (abduction) and ‘Aalika’ (female companion).

Legend has it that Goddess Parvati was taken to a forested area by a close friend in order to stop her father from forcibly marrying her off to Lord Vishnu.

Haritalika Teej 2023: IS HARTALIKA TEEJ COMING UP?

According to Drigpanchang, Hartalika Teej will be observed on September 18, 2023, on a Monday. The morning Hartalika Puja ceremony will be performed around the auspicious time of 06:07 AM and will endure for 2 hours, 27 minutes, till 08:34 AM.

The third lunar day, known as the Tritiya Tithi, runs from September 17, 2023, at 11:08 AM, until September 18, 2023, at 12:39 PM.

WHEN SHOULD TEEJ PUJA BE DONE?

The Teej Puja should be performed in the morning. If performing the Shiva-Parvati Puja in the morning is not possible, the Pradosh hour is also said to be appropriate.

The devotees should get up early, take a bath, and get dressed nicely before beginning the Puja. During the Puja, they must worship the sculptures of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati and recount the story of Hartalika.

Hartalika Vrat, also known as Gowri Habba in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu, is a significant event for requesting the blessings of Goddess Gowri. To ensure a happy married life, women practise Swarna Gowri Vratha, a fasting tradition, on the day of Gowri Habba.

Haritalika Teej 2023: THE DIFFERENT TEEJ FESTIVALS

Women in North Indian states, notably in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand, celebrate three well-known Teej festivals with tremendous fervour.

Hariyali Teej, Kajari Teej, and Hartalika Teej are the names of these three Teej celebrations. However, the aforementioned three Teej festivities do not include additional Teej festivals like Akha Teej (also known as Akshaya Tritiya) and Gangaur Tritiya.

During the brilliant fortnight (Shukla Paksha Tritiya) of the Bhadrapada month, Haritalika Teej occurs. It occurs one month following Hariyali Teej and is frequently observed the day before Ganesh Chaturthi. Women worship the clay statues of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati at Haritalika Teej.
