A 52-year-old Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Haryana police committed suicide by shooting himself as he was upset over being “unfairly” sent to police lines. But before taking the extreme step, the ASI recorded his reasons on Facebook.

Virender, was posted at Murthal in Sonipat over 9 months ago, said, Station House Officer, Police Station Murthal, Inspector Rambir. “It appears that the ASI first tried to hang himself from the ceiling fan, but when he failed in that attempt he shot himself with his service revolver. We found him in a hanging position with a bullet having pierced his chest,” said Rambir, reported NDTV.

The Inspector had heard the gunfire from another room but had assumed it to be a tyre-burst at first. “He had come to the office to hand over the charge after he was recently transferred to the police lines,” he added.

Police is now probing his Facebook post, in which he has specified the reasons for committing suicide.

According to the SHO, Sub-Inspector Virender had filed a cross case against members of two groups last month who had entered into a clash. However, just a few days later, Virender was sent to police lines.

He has mentioned in his post that it was not a fair decision due to which he was disappointed. “We have registered a case of suicide and further investigations were being conducted,” Rambir said.
