Dr Manmohan Singh made remarks against the current Prime Minister of the country, Narendra Modi for his silence over critical issues. The attacks came in while the former Prime Minister was speaking on the sidelines of a function that happened for his book release, Changing India.

Manmohan Singh said, “People say I was a silent Prime Minister. But I wasn’t the Prime Minister who was afraid of talking to the press.”

He added, “I met the press regularly, and after every foreign trip I undertook, I gave a press conference”.

When asked about the feasibility of farm loan waivers, the former Prime Minister said that the move was announced as the party had to honour its commitments made in the election manifesto of the states that went for polls. He later said that he is yet to study the impact of the move.

In the book, Changing India, Singh talks about his life as an economist and his years as the Prime Minister of the country.
