Flowers are an important part on any occasion or celebration. It is considered to be a decent present to give on birthday’s or marriages or during a formal meeting.

There are so many different types of flowers but rose holds a special place, because of its pleasant fragrance and vibrant colour, it had made its way to the hearts of the people. Especially, if we talk about Valentine’s Day rose cannot be missed.

Rose is the most important thing during the Valentine week. Rose that normally cost around Rs 10 or 20 reaches around Rs 100 on Valentine’s Day courtesy its huge demand.

The farmers are benefitted the most from these higher prices of the rose and this time the production revenue is expected to see a rise to 30 crores, stated a report. It also states that the rose cultivators from Maval and the nearby area of Pune district are expected to see a growth of 15-20 per cent from rose exports.

The farmers from the Pune district will export the roses in the western countries too and the reason for this hike is said to be good winter season as well as an increase in the production area.

The appropriate climatic condition with sunlight, moderate temperature, less humidity and cheap labour has made India home to large floral industry.

According to reports, last year in Feb 2018, the total revenue earned from rose was Rs 23 Crore but this year it is expected to shoot to Rs 30 crore.

The reason for the growth is also seen to be a large number of farmers moving out from the traditional farming and joining floriculture.

The most demanded and popular roses are the top-secret red roses as well as the pink coloured revival roses. White coloured Avalanche rose are the most popular roses for vintage weddings

Reports also revealed that last year, Talegaon-based Indian Society of Floriculture Professionals (ISFP) exported rose to UK, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore followed by special orders for Valentine season by Gulf countries and made Rs 24 crore.
