Indian Railways rolls out new Bengal Summer Specials Trains

Indian Railways has introduced special summer trains between Malda Town and Udhna from April to July, giving passengers more travel options during the busy holiday season and easing extra crowding.

Bengal Summer Specials Trains: Indian Railways has started a special summer train service between Malda Town and Udhna because many more people travel during the holiday season. Railway officials said this extra train is being run to help with the big crowd and make travel easier for passengers in the busy summer months.

The special service will run from April to July on a fixed timetable and will take about 38 hours to finish the journey. Current coverage also says this train will have AC coaches, sleeper coaches and general coaches so different kinds of passengers can travel as per their need and budget.

Train Timings and Route Details

The summer special train will run with train numbers 09033 and 09034. The 09033 Udhna–Malda Town Summer Special will leave Udhna at 11 pm every Thursday from April 9 to July 23. It will make 16 trips in total and will reach Malda Town at 11 am on the third day.

In the other direction, the 09034 Malda Town–Udhna Summer Special will start from Malda Town at 9:30 am every Sunday from April 12 to July 26. This train will also run 16 times and is expected to arrive at Udhna at 1:20 am on the third day. These timings were reported in current coverage on April 5.

During the part of the trip that comes under Eastern Railway, the train will stop at several important stations in both directions. These stations include New Farakka, Barharwa, Sahibganj, Kahalgaon, Bhagalpur, Sultanganj, Jamalpur and Abhaipur. This means passengers from many towns on the route will get a chance to use the service during the summer rush.

Train will carry General Second Class, Sleeper Class and air-conditioned coaches. That gives options to both reserved passengers and people looking for cheaper travel.

More Summer Specials Across India

This new service is part of a much bigger summer plan by Indian Railways. Central Railway said in an official March 18 press release that Indian Railways is running 1,484 summer special train services in 2026. These include 749 reserved services and 735 unreserved services. The railway said these trains are meant to help passengers during summer vacation travel and will cover many busy routes across the country.

The wider summer network includes major routes like Mumbai–Banaras, Delhi–Katra and Pune–Danapur. It also covers shorter and medium-distance routes such as Mumbai–Pune, Mumbai–Kolhapur and Pune–Solapur. Long-distance trains from Mumbai to places like Gorakhpur and Ballia are also part of the expanded summer schedule. Booking dates for the Malda Town–Udhna special train will be announced soon.
