Aban’s invention, the result of years of labour, has the potential to save countless lives and increase access to healthcare in regions prone to natural disasters and calamities. Aban stated, “After witnessing the devastating floods of 2014, the idea of developing a solution to transport blood samples and pouches between hospitals ignited in my mind.”
Aban has devoted the past five years to refining his drone technology. The initial experiments conducted in Himachal Pradesh were successful, as the drone successfully connected 20 to 25 satellite hospitals to the main hospital, spanning over 70 kilometres. Aban’s venture with drones also involved interstate connections, connecting hospitals in Shimla and Chandigarh. The speed of 80 kilometres per hour achieved by the drone assures the prompt delivery of vital medical supplies.
Despite the obstacles he confronted as a result of the administration’s limited support and regulatory restrictions, he persevered. Aban chose to launch the drone in Himachal Pradesh first, collecting data and demonstrating its benefits, before expanding its use to the Kashmir valley. Aban emphasised the need to surmount obstacles by stating, “The circumstances compelled me to debut the drone first in Himachal so that, after analysing its benefits, we can replicate it in Kashmir as well.”
The geographical conditions of both states make it difficult to provide expeditious blood transfusions to in need patients. Aban realised this and utilised the available space in the atmosphere. “In the atmosphere, there is unused space that we can utilise. Keeping this in mind, I created this drone to assist the disadvantaged,” he said. Not only did Aban work on the initiative himself, but he also collaborated with corporate entities from outside Kashmir. These partnerships facilitated the development and implementation of his drone technology by providing additional expertise and resources.
“In order to administer the same service in the valley, I require funding to launch this initiative. Aban added, “Afterwards, we can turn it into a business that will not only save lives but also provide opportunities for the valley’s youth.” In addition to his technological achievements, Aban had an uplifting message for young people.
“My message to young people is to pursue their vocation. We can effect meaningful change and make a difference in the world through perseverance and commitment, he stated. The invention of drones by Aban has the potential to revolutionise healthcare access in remote areas.
The potential impact of his technology cannot be overstated as he attempts to obtain financial backing and overcome regulatory hurdles. Aban brings us closer to a future in which life-saving medical supplies can reach even the most inaccessible regions, offering hope and a chance of survival to those in dire need.
