iPhone 15: This year, Apple is expected to equip all iPhone 15 variants with USB-C ports. USB-C is more versatile and efficient than Lightning, but the conventional iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus may not experience a speed increase.

iPhone 15: USB-C cable for iPhone 15/15 Plus that is sluggish

The conventional iPhone 15 models will ship with USB-C cables that are limited to USB 2.0 speeds, or 480 MBps, according to Apple leaker Majin Bu. This pace is identical to that of Lightning. And charging will continue to be limited to 20W.

While the standard models are rumoured to only support USB 2.0 speeds, it is expected that the iPhone 15 Pro models will support significantly quicker USB-C transfer speeds.

According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 15 Pro variants could support “at least” USB 3.2 or Thunderbolt 3, which can offer up to 40 Gbps transfer speeds.

This is substantially faster than USB 2.0’s 480 Mbps transfer rate. Consequently, iPhone 15 Pro models will be capable of transferring videos and other large files significantly faster than iPhone 15 models.

In addition, each iPhone 15 will reportedly arrive with a braided USB-C charging cable that is 50% longer than the Lightning cable that ships with current iPhone models. It is also rumoured that the cables will complement the new iPhone colours, which may include black, white, yellow, blue, and orange.

The source also suggests that the iPhone 15’s USB-C charging cable will not require a Made for iPhone (MFI) certification chip. This contradicts previous rumours that Apple would restrict or impede data speeds for non-MFI-certified cables.
