Dubai’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa lit up in the colours of Indian Premier League franchise Kolkata Knight Riders, ahead of the side’s first game in the league. KKR begin their IPL 2020 campaign against Mumbai Indians on Wednesday.

The enormous LED display began last night and showcased the KKR team players in their signature purple hue.

“Before the fireworks tomorrow, here’s the curtain raiser! We won’t stop, on our way to the Top with upwards arrow aboveThank you @BurjKhalifa for lighting up in #KKR colours. What a welcome to the UAE tonight”: KKR wrote on their Twitter, posting a video of the grand welcoming.

Back in 2019, the Knights failed to make the playoffs despite winning quite a few matches to begin their campaign. However, in the middle of the round-robin stage, Karthik’s men lost six matches in a row and completely lost the momentum. West Indies’ Andre Russell was both their leading run-scorer and top wicket-taker, but his valiant efforts went in vain.

With their IPL 2020 campaign set to begin, KKR look more confident with one of the best sides of the league this year. Captain Dinesh Karthik has also hinted at Shubhman Gill and Sunil Narine opening the innings on Wednesday at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Led by Karthik, KKR boasts of some of the star players in T20 cricket like Andre Russell and Sunil Narine, and are further bolstered with the arrivals of Eoin Morgan, Pat Cummins and Tom Banton.
