IRCTC Amul Curd Controversy: A food complaint on the Patna-Tatanagar Vande Bharat Express has now turned into a serious issue for IRCTC, the railway body that handles catering and tourism services. The matter started after passengers complained online about the quality of Amul curd served during the trip.
Reports said some people raised concerns that the curd looked stale and poor in quality. The issue spread fast on social media and soon got wide attention. IRCTC then stepped in and began looking into how the food was stored, handled, and served on the train.

IRCTC later said it was treating the matter in a very serious way. The statement said, “IRCTC has viewed the complaints very seriously about the quality of Amul curd served in Patna-Tata Vande Bharat train,” Economic Times quoted the corporation. After that, stronger action followed against the company handling food service on the train.
IRCTC takes action against service provider
The railways’ catering arm said it did not want to take this lightly. A fresh statement said, “Apart from imposing a hefty penalty, the process of terminating the contract and blacklisting the licensee of the train, IRCTC has summoned the ‘Amul’ on March 27 for explanation about the grave Quality concern related to Amul Curd,” the statement added. This showed that IRCTC was not only going after the onboard catering company but was also asking questions to the supplier linked to the product.
Officials said big fines were imposed after the complaint. Current reporting says the Railway Ministry fined IRCTC Rs 10 lakh. The onboard service provider was fined Rs 50 lakh. Reports also said the contract of the service provider was being terminated or had been moved for cancellation. This made it clear that the railway authorities wanted to send a strong message over food quality on premium trains.
