Todd Strauss-Schulson directorial film Isn’t It Romantic for the Indian audience is all about ‘Desi Girl’ Priyanka Chopra. The actress has done her best despite her brief role in the movie. Though her Hollywood stint not has been much she has done all the justice to her role in this new Netflix rom-com.
The observation says that Priyanka has done well in her cameo scenes like in ‘A Kid Like Jake’ rather than entire performances in movie Baywatch.
In this film, she is essaying the role of a yoga ambassador and is hardly seen in two and a half scene but she has made sure that her presence is felt in each scene she conquers. In the rest of the movie, Priyanka Chopra is seen in the background of important scenes. So for instance even if the spotlight is on the main lead of the film, her presence is felt largely on the screen.
This is the sort of movie PC would have opted for earlier at the start of her Hollywood career in TV. The film evolves the modern day romantic comedies that are very well accepted in today’s scenario and though it can be considered as an outdated genre, still is being embraced by the people.
The film gives Priyanka the platform to enjoy the debatable accent she carries and the lopsided smile she has. She is also a part of a song and a peppy dance number in the film that will remind you of her Bollywood movies days. It’s anyway a long time that fans are dying to see her in a Bollywood film.
The movie shows a bold female character that Bollywood or even Hollywood would take inspiration from and the lead character essaying that bold role of Natalie steals the show and the 88-minute run-time barely allow the audience to observe the flaws in the movie.
The film is the second Netflix project in as many months that revolves around trapping the female protagonist in a make-believe world against their wish. The quirky storyline passes the test with flying colours. Though the film is not about Priyanka Chopra, its surely a must watch especially for the Priyanka Chopra fans as she has portrayed her best form in Hollywood till date.
