Srinagar: 2 months after Shah Faesal resigned from his post of IAS officer, the UPSC topper from Kashmir is all set to launch his new political party on Sunday.

The party is expected to contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. For the last few days Faesal has been travelling through different districts of the Valley, in a hope to bring like-minded individuals into the fold. One of these is former JNU Students’ Union vice-president Shehla Rashid, who has been a staunch critic of the Narendra Modi regime.

“The party is looking forward to contesting the Parliamentary elections”, Faesal was quoted as saying by a leading news portal India.

After quitting from bureaucracy, former IAS officer Shah Faesal had launched a crowdfunding campaign for “clean politics and corruption free administration” in the state of Jammu & Kashmir. In a tweet, the IAS topper had appealed people to support him with small donations. At the end of the message he mentioned the details of the bank account.

He had attributed his decision to the “unabated killings in Kashmir”, New Delhi’s refusal to initiate a political process in the state and “marginalization of the Indian Muslims”.

The elections in Jammu and Kashmir will take place across six phases.
