Jersey actor Shraddha Srinath reveals why she turned into a feminist and atheist

Actor Shraddha Srinath recently took to social media to reveal why she turned atheist and feminist both when she was 14-year-old.

Recounting what happened, the Jersey actress states that she was at a family pooja and had gotten her period. she wrote, “At a family pooja, I got my period. I was not accompanied by my mom, so I nudged my aunt sitting next to me and worriedly informed her of it (because I was not carrying a sanitary pad).”

And instead of comforting her, she reveals that a lady who overheard them told her she’d be ‘forgiven’. She added, “Another good-natured lady sitting close, saw me worried and overheard me and said to me, smiling reassuringly, “Parvagilla chinna, devaru kshamistaare/ don’t worry child, God will forgive you” (for being part of the Pooja while menstruating).”

At that moment, the actress decided that it is nothing to be shameful about. She wrote, “That’s the day I became a feminist and a non-believer. I was 14.” Shraddha even posted a lovely picture with the text, all smiles and dressed in a comfy tee-shirt.

The actress received comments from fans who were happy to have been offered this insight into her life. Actress Mrunal Thakur also lauded her in her comment.
