Jharkhand Court Denies Hemant Soren’s Bail Plea to Attend Uncle’s Funeral: Former Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren asked 13 days of provisional bail from the PMLA court to attend his uncle Raja Ram Soren’s burial this morning.
On Saturday, a Jharkhand court denied the provisional parole application of former chief minister Hemant Soren, who was incarcerated. Soren petitioned the court on Saturday, citing the earlier-day demise of his uncle.
According to his counsel, Soren asked 13 days of provisional release from the PMLA court to attend his uncle Raja Ram Soren’s funeral this morning.
Pradeep Chandra, Soren’s attorney, stated, “A petition for interim bail was submitted; however, the court denied the petition.”
Additionally, Soren had previously submitted a petition, and a hearing is scheduled for May 1. He also petitioned the Supreme Court for special leave to contest his arrest, which will be considered on April 29.
Soren was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for money laundering on 8.86 acres of tribal land in Bariatu on January 31. ED has filed a prosecution complaint against him, and the PMLA court has jurisdiction.
