Jharkhand man arrested: A man from Jharkhand has been apprehended in connection with the theft of 266 iPhones worth Rs 2 crore from a warehouse on the Lonikand–Kesnand road.

The accused was identified as Salim alias Asarul Ismail Fazal Shaikh, 35, and the theft occurred on July 17.

According to a police statement, an investigation revealed the involvement of a gang from Sahibganj, Jharkhand, in the crime, prompting a police squad to begin searching for the suspects. On August 24, two police officers went to Sahibganj and arrested Shaikh.

According to the police, he committed the larceny with the assistance of four others. They allegedly sold the stolen iPhones on the illicit market with the assistance of a West Bengali agent.

The first information report (FIR) was filed at the Lonikand police station under Indian Penal Code sections 454, 457, and 380.
