Karnataka by-polls: Congress hands Shivamogga and Mandya to JD(S)

The infamous Ballari Lok Sabha candidate name for the upcoming by-polls is yet to be finalised by the JDS-Congress coalition.

Karnataka by-polls: JDS bags Shivamogga and Mandya

Janata Dal-Secular bags the two Lok Sabha seats from its alliance partner Congress for the upcoming scheduled Karnataka By-polls and will be fielding Madhu Bangarappa from Shivamogga and LR Shivarame Gowda from Mandya seat.

Two former chief minister sons are contesting against each other for Shivamogga seat. Madhu is the son of former Chief Minister S Bangarappa and will be facing BR Raghvendra son of another former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa of the Bhartiya Janata Party. He will be filing his nomination as JDS candidate on Monday and will contest as combine candidate of Congress-JDS led alliance to defeat the BJP.

Madhu will be meeting the JDS supremo HD Deve Gowda before his nomination and taking his blessings later today.

JDS also bags the Mandya Lok Sabha constituency from its alliance partner Congress and LR Shivarame is contesting as JDS candidate.

Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy’s wife Anitha Kumaraswamy is contesting from Ramanagara Assembly constituency in the upcoming by-poll election.

The coalition of JDS and Congress has also announced the candidate for Jamakhandi Assembly seat and Anand Nyamgouda is contesting as Congress candidate. Anand is the son of former MLA, Siddu Nyamagouda, who was killed in a road accident earlier this year on May 28.

Earlier the Election Commission of India has announced the by-polls to three Lok Sabha seats- Shivamogga, Mandya and Ballari, and the two assembly seats of Ramanagara and Jamakhandi will take place on November 3.

The Congress has announced the polls in-charge for the seats contested by JDS candidate in by-elections. Senior Congress leader and Industries minister in the state KJ George will be the in-charge for Mandya Lok Sabha seat and Revenue minister RV Deshpande and Dk Suresh will be overseeing the Shivamogga and Ramanagara respectively.
