Kedarnath: 24 members IIT Roorkee trekking team missing; rescue mission underway

19 IIT Roorkee students and 5 supported staff went missing after the incessant rain and flash flood in Uttarakhand. The IIT trekking team had gone on a trip from Tehri to Kedarnath.

A police team is deployed to find them and as per the last report, they have started the search operation in Vasuki Lake, Kedarnath area. It is apprehended that the trekking team might have been stuck in some high altitude area of Kedarnath.

Rudraprayag Superintendent of Police PN Meena said the rescue team is on alert and trying to establish the contact with the trekking team. They are also in contact with IIT Roorkee and the missing team is reportedly missing from the last four days. The institute reported the incident on Tuesday to the local administration.

This is another incident immediately after the 42 students from the same institution were rescued by the joint operation of district administration and Border Road Organisation on Tuesday in Himachal Pradesh.
