Kia Sonet MY26 Update: Kia has launched the 2026 version of its popular compact SUV, the Kia Sonet, with more automatic variants in India. With this update, the company has expanded the automatic transmission options for buyers who prefer easier driving in city traffic. The newly introduced variants start at Rs 9,77,900 (ex-showroom).
These new versions come with both diesel automatic and turbo petrol automatic engine choices. Kia says this update makes the Sonet one of the few SUVs in its category to offer multiple automatic gearbox options at a price below Rs 10 lakh.

Engine and Transmission Options
According to the company, the Kia Sonet is now the only SUV in its segment that offers both a 6-speed automatic transmission and a 7-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission (7-DCT) for under Rs 10 lakh in India.
The 6-speed automatic gearbox is available only with the diesel engine. This diesel automatic option is now offered in variants like HTE(O), HTK(O), HTK+, and HTK+(O).
For buyers who prefer petrol engines, Kia is offering the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine paired with the 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox. This combination is available in the HTK(O) and HTK+(O) variants.
With these additions, Kia has expanded the Sonet’s automatic lineup so more customers can choose automatic versions at a lower price.
Pricing of the Automatic Variants
The company has also revealed the price range for the automatic versions of the 2026 Kia Sonet. These models are priced between Rs 9.78 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 10.84 lakh (ex-showroom).
By introducing these new variants, Kia aims to make automatic SUVs more accessible to buyers in the compact SUV segment.
New Colour and Features
Along with the new variants, Kia has also introduced a fresh colour option called Magma Red for the 2026 Sonet.

Apart from this new colour, the SUV keeps all the features that are already available in the current model. The car comes with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It also gets a fully digital driver display of the same size.
The SUV includes a Level 1 ADAS safety system as well. Other safety features include 6 airbags and more than 50 connected car features that allow users to control and monitor different functions of the vehicle through connected technology.
