Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur visited the search and rescue site in Kinnaur earlier in the day. He then reached the Community Health Centre in Bhaba Nagar of Kinnaur district to inquire about the well being of those injured in the landslide yesterday.
Another body has been recovered by Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel from the wreckage of a bus following the landslide in Kinnaur. Death toll rises to 11.
ITBP Spokesperson Vivek Pandy stated that around 200 jawans from three batallions of the ITBP have reached the spot. However, the area is currently very dangerous and teams have been waiting for over an hour for the shooting stones to stop, he was quoted as saying by ANI.
Deputy Commissioner, Kinnaur, Abid Hussain Sadiq told PTI that several vehicles, including a Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus carrying over 40 passengers, are buried under the debris. The bus was on its way from Reckong Peo in Kinnaur to Shimla, he said.
A major landslide occurred on the Reckong Peo-Shimla highway in the Kinnaur district on Wednesday. One truck and one HRTC bus reportedly came under the rubble and many people are reported to be trapped.

PM Modi spoke to Himachal Pradesh CM Jairam Thakur following a massive landslide in Himachal Pradesh’s Kinnaur which claimed the lives of two people and trapped over 50 people under the debris.
The prime minister assured CM Thakur of all possible support for the ongoing rescue operations in the landslide that occurred on Reckong Peo-Shimla Highway in Nugulsari area of Kinnaur.

The accident took place 210 kilometers from state capital Shimla and 60 kilometers from district headquarters Reckong Peo on National Highway 5. Chief minister Jai Ram Thakur said the state government has requisitioned the National Disaster Response Force to carry out a search and rescue operation. “If the weather permits, I will go to the spot,” he said.

Kinnaur MLA Jagat Singh Negi said rescue teams comprising ITBP personnel, police and home guards have reached the spot. “One person has been rescued. Rescuers are facing difficulties reaching the bus due to the landslide,” said Negi.
Rescue Operation By NDRF, CISF, Police
Five people, including the bus driver and conductor, have been rescued from the landslide site near the Nugulsari area. Teams of ITBP from the 43rd Battalion, 17th Battalion and 19th Battalion are carrying out the rescue operations. NDRF, CISF, and the police have also reached the spot.

Three bodies were recovered from the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus, which, along with other vehicles, was buried under the debris, State Disaster Management Director Sudesh Kumar Mokhta said. The bus was found in a badly damaged condition, he added. Another vehicle, a Bolero, still lies buried under the rubble.
The ITBP has recovered another dead body at the landslide site, raising the death toll to four. So far, 12 injured persons have been rescued from the spot.
"My heart goes out to the families affected by the landslide in Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh. Praying for everyone's safety and successful rescue of those trapped at the site," Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal was quoted as saying by the official twitter account of the CMO.
As the rescue operations continue at the landslide site, three persons have been found dead, while seven injured have been taken to the hospital. Nearly 30 people are feared buried under the debris.
As search operations continue, visuals show ITBP personnel rescuing a man trapped inside the debris.
The Himachal Pradesh Emergency Operation Centre has said that two people have been found dead, while ten people have been rescued from the landslide site, so far. (ANI)
