There has been reports of Railway Department charging ₹50 extra per passenger travelling in the special trains being operated between various States.

The Railway Board has issued a circular directing the various railway regions including Southern Railway to charge ₹50 per passenger in addition to the cost of the Sleeper Class fare. The circular states that the extra charges would comprise superfast charges of ₹30 and an additional charge of ₹20.

The order has been slammed by many including Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren.

Now, in a recent, KPCC chief DK Shivakumar has given ₹1 crore to KSRTC to ensure free transportation of migrants.

He took to Twitter and wrote, “Giving ₹1 crore cheque to KSRTC from the KPCC for ensuring Free Transport to our working class & labour people who are suffering to reach home because of the rates being charged by the Karnataka Govt. Govt should let us know if they need more, the KPCC will fulfill that as well.”

Earlier, Jharkhand CM Hemant Sore also took to Twitter and expressed disapproval over Railways charging extra from migrants who are travelling in special trains. Not only this, he has also urged the center to re-think on charging more from them.
