Lata Mangeshkar, known as the nightingale of India, is one of the best known and most respected playback singers in India.
She has started her career in 1942 and in 1974 Lata Mangeshkar made her way to the Guinness World Records List who was listed as the most recorded artiste in the history of playback singing. Lata Ji has also been awarded the highest civilian award, The Bharat Ratna.
Mangeshkar is the recipient of three National Film Awards, 15 Bengal Film Journalists’ Association Awards, four Filmfare Best Female Playback Awards, two Filmfare Special Awards, Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award and many more. In 1974, she became the first Indian to perform in the Royal Albert Hall.
