Mobile Internet services in Kashmir were suspended on Wednesday after top commander of Hizbul Mujahideen terror group Riaz Naikoo, along with another militant, was trapped in an encounter with security forces in Pulwama district, officials said. The mobile Internet has been suspended as a precautionary measure, they said.

An unidentified militant was killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday, officials said. Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Sharshali village of Pulwama following information about the presence of militants there, they said.

The total number of global coronavirus cases has surpassed 3.7 million, including more than 258,000 fatalities. More than 1,241,000 patients are reported to have recovered.
