Tamil Nadu police releases Louis Sophia who raised slogans against the BJP-led central government in public’ on bail after her arrest sparked a political row. DMK chief MK Stalin had slammed the Tamil Nadu government for arresting her and called for Sofia’s release on Monday. Stalin had also dared Tamil Nadu police to put her behind the bars and added that he along with his party cadres would ingeminate the fascism charge against BJP.

“Sophia should be immediately released. You will have to arrest lakhs of people who raise slogans like this. I will also raise the slogan. BJP fascist government down down,” Stalin said.

25-year-old Sofia is a researcher in Canada. She was arrested on Monday from the Tuticorin airport on the charges of causing public nuisance under Indian Penal code section 290 and causing a breach of public peace under section 75 (1) © of the Tamil Nau City Police Act 1888.

Sophia was travelling in the flight on which Tamil Nadu BJP Chief Tamilisai Soundararajan had also boarded. An argument erupted in between the two while boarding. On this, Sofia shouted “Fascist BJP Government Down Down”. Later on Saundararajan’s complain, Tamil Nadu police arrested Sofia.
