Khagaria: Incumbent Member of Parliament from Khagaria constituency, Mehboob Ali Kaiser will continue to be Lok Jan Shakti (LJP) party’ candidate here for the upcoming Lok Sabha election, if reports are to be believed. On Sunday, Kaiser met party chief Ram Vilas Paswan and LJP parliamentary board chairman Chirag Paswan.

Before winning the Lok Sabha elections 2014 from Khagaria, Kaiser was a three-time Member of Vidhan Sabha from Simri Bakhtiarpur constituency.

After being denied ticket by Indian National Congress for general election 2014, he joined Lok Janshakti Party days before 2014 general election and successfully contested from Khagaria constituency. Kaiser had won the 2014 elections here by more than 89 thousand votes against Krishna Yadav of RJD.

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) comprising of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Janata Dal United (JDU) and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) which had earlier announced its seat-sharing formula of 17-17-6, has declared its list of candidates on Saturday, March 16.

The alliance had announced candidates for 39 Lok Sabha constituency, while the name for Khadiya constituency remained to be announced, a seat that is among 6 to be contested by Lok Janshakti Party.

While the Mahagathbandhan in the state reached an agreement on Saturday. After days of negotiations with the Rashtriya Janata Dal, the Congress party on Tuesday had agreed to lower down its demand for 11 seats in the state to 9.

In the arrangement that has been agreed upon by the parties, it was declared that Congress is set to contest on 9 constituencies, a settlement that took place after the grand old party was looking to get its contestants on 11 seats while RJD pushed to give only 8.

Mukesh Sahni’s Vikasheel Insaf Party gets 3 seats. Upendra Kushwaha’s RSLP gets five seats, while former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi’s HAM will contest on three seats. RJD is set to contest on 20 seats. Sharad Yadav will contest from RJD’ quota of seats. Also, one CPI ML is slated to contest on one seat from RJD quota.
