Lok Sabha Elections 2019: Fake EVM found in Bihar, 1 taken into custody

A fake Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) was found in the Aurangabad constituency during the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections on Wednesday, April 1.

The fake EVM was recovered near Bhulahahi in Dhibra police station area, a Naxal-affected region in the district. A man name Suresh Paswan having fake EVM was detained from the polling booth. The accused was asking voters outside the booth to vote for a particular political party.

BJP’ Sushil Kumar Singh is in contest to retain his seat against HAM (Secular) candidate Upendra Prasad. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Sushil Kumar registered a victory by more than 70 thousands votes. He polled 3,07,941 votes to Congress’ candidate Nikhil Kumar’ 2,41,594. While JD (U) candidate Bagi Kumar Verma grabbed 136137 votes.

Along with Lok Sabha Elections, voting will also take place in this phase for the Assembly elections 2019 in Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, and Odisha.
