The Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh will be among the most stretched out as it will be held in seven phases as announced by the Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora on Sunday.

The The Election Commission of India announced that the general elections will began on April 11, with the last phase taking place on May 19, the results is slated to be announced on May 23.

Uttar Pradesh has a total of 80 seats and is the state which sends most number of MPs to the Lok Sabha.

Elections in the Gorakhpur constituency will take place in the last phase of the General Elections 2019 which will take place on May 19.

The elections in the Gorakhpur constituency will take place along with 12 other constituencies, namely, Maharajganj, Kushinagar, Deoria, Bansgaon, Ghosi, Salempur, Ballia, Ghazipur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Mirzapur, Robertsganj.

Gorakhpur which has been the bastion of the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister will be a seat to look out for as after Yogi Adityanath had vacated the seat after becoming the CM, the Samajwadi Party stitched an alliance to defeat the saffron party. Praveen Kumar Nishad who is the son of NISHAD party founder Dr Sanjay Nishad had won from this seat in the bypolls on Samajwadi Party ticket.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath has won from Gorakhpur constituency five times in a row after Mahant Avedyanath won it here three times in a row.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party had sealed a remarkable 71 seats out of 80 with then ruling party in the state Samajwadi Party getting just 5 seats. After the coming together of Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party, a tough contest expected in India’s most populous state.
