“Losing party always blame EVMs,” says TRS on Cong’s claim of manipulated EVMs

With trends suggesting Telangana Rashtra Samithi likely to retain government in Telangana, opposition parties claimed manipulation of EVM machines during polling. Responding to the Congress’s claims, TRS leader and daughter of sitting Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, K Kavitha said that the losing party always says the EVMs have been tempered.

“This is absolutely false. Even the CEC in a press meeting on Monday said that it is not possible to tamper EVMs. People have given victory to TRS, what Congress is claiming is false,” she said.

Kavitha’s reaction comes hours after Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Uttam Kumar Reddy attributing the party’s poor performance to “tampered EVMs.”

He said, “I am having doubts on results we’re getting in Telangana ballot paper counting. We’re doubting that tampering could have been done in EVMs. Slips should be counted in VVPATs.”

The party has written to the Telangana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Rajat Kumar alleging manupilation of EVMs.

It’s letter on the issue read, “The counting of votes in Telangana State is going on now and the distorted trends in counting of EVM machines, there is a strong suspicion that EVM machines have been manipulated. The EVM machines showing trends which are far away from ground realities.”

“The Congress party requests that 100%  counting of VVPAT papers should be taken up,” it further said.

As per the trends till 2 PM, TRS leads in with bagging most seats. Pollsters continue to claim that it is going to be a one-sided contest in favour of the TRS.
