Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is carrying out “Jan Ashirvad Yatra”, ahead of state assembly polls due in November this year. If Congress data is to be believed, he is at the top of the list in making promises on a daily basis to the people.
As per the data issued by the Congress party, the CM made a total of 1400 announcements in a year, amounting to 4 on a daily basis.
Congress national president Rahul Gandhi during his recent ‘Karyakarta Samvad Rally’ in Bhopal compared Shivraj with former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. He said that Shivraj’s announcement is like the former batsman who was a run machine and the CM is announcement machine, with the lowest implementation ratio.
Despite criticism, the Madhya Pradesh government is yet to release any official data on the CM’s announcements.
For example, a total of 77 announcements are made only on education by Shivraj Singh. But the picture is different when it comes to the ground reality. Government schools in the state are narrating the plight of the schools’ infrastructure.
In Reeva district, the state schools building is dilapidated. Forget about the overhyped ‘Toilet’ scheme, students complain of sitting arrangements and drinking water problem. Students also allege lacking basic infrastructure in the school. 80-90 students have to sit in one classroom which does not have a bench and desk for anyone. They are forced to do the cleaning of the school premise.
Shortages of teachers are also a major concern for these government schools. When asked about it, the school principal said: “It is a new school and teachers appointments are due.” Not only this, but he also adds that the district administration is unable to release the amount sanctioned for the cleanliness regularly. As a result of this, they are not able to hire the sanitation staff. The principal also said that they are yet to receive the amount sanctioned for the school.
