Maharashtra Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow alert for Friday in the Maharashtra districts of Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Dhule, Jalgaon, and Nashik. The city of Mumbai experienced significant rainfall earlier on Thursday. Flooding in low-lying areas of the city is anticipated to cause a minor delay in the operation of Mumbai’s local trains. The weather service also predicted that the neighbouring states of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh will experience significant precipitation over the next three days.
According to the weather agency, heavy rainfall is anticipated in parts of Mumbai and Thane till Sunday. IMD’s most recent 24-hour local weather forecast predicts mild to moderate precipitation in Mumbai city and its suburbs. The expected maximum and minimum temperatures in Mumbai and neighbouring cities will be approximately 27 and 24 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Over the next three days, Western Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat will experience significant rainfall, according to an IMD post on X.

Since 8:30 IST, Mumbai and neighbouring regions have also reported heavy rainfall. #City of Mumbai Rain since 08:30 IST (in millimetres). Santacruz 92.5; Colaba 43.6; Dahisar 71.0; Juhu 84.0; Rammandir 88.0; Matunga 75.5; Sion 75.2 will likely experience mild to moderate rainfall overnight, according to the IMD’s ‘X’ forecast.
Maharashtra Weather Update
On Thursday, the rains returned to Mumbai after an absence of nearly a month, providing much-needed respite from the rising heat. Between 8 am and 6 pm, the island city, eastern suburbs, and western suburbs received an average of 57.63 mm, 76.94 mm, and 90.50 mm of precipitation, respectively.
Eleven incidents of tree collapse or branch fall and eight incidents of short-circuit were reported, but no injuries were reported, according to the BMC.
