Tundra Esports announces arrival of Topson to their Dota 2 roster ahead of TI12

Tundra Esports: Prior to The International 2023 (TI12), Tundra Esports recently announced that Topias ‘Topson’ Miikka Taavitsainen will be joining their Dota 2 roster. Speculation regarding this particular addition has been rampant for over a month, with many believing that the incumbent TI champions will utilise the two-time TI champion for their title defence. Finally, the transfer is legitimate, and it will be exciting to see Topson in his new uniform.

Yesterday, Tundra Esports announced that Saksa was “taking an extended break due to health reasons” and would no longer be a member of their active roster. Once more, players began to speculate if a Topson announcement was imminent.

After his triumph, the man took a step back and was placed on the team’s inactive roster, making occasional appearances for other groups. He also participated in the TI SEA qualifiers last year, pairing with Ana in T1.

Topson joins Tundra Esports as the Dota 2 champions prepare for TI12 title defence.

Regarding Topson’s addition to Tundra Esports’ Dota 2 roster, the organization’s official announcement stated:

“This thrilling development represents a milestone for both Tundra Esports and Topson’s career. Tundra Esports will attempt to defend their title at The International 2023 after winning and claiming the Aegis of Champions at The International in 2018. With the addition of Topson, boasting both skill and experience, the team are eager to fight for back-to-back TI titles.”

In last year’s TI, Tundra Esports topped their division and lost just once in the playoffs. They defeated Team Secret 3-0 in the grand final to win the Aegis of Champions and engrave their names into Dota 2 lore.

This season, the team has struggled to replicate its previous success. They placed ninth through twelfth at the Lima Major, fifth and sixth at the Berlin Major, and third at the Bali Major. In the Riyadh Masters 2023, they placed ninth through twelfth.

Topson’s ability to swiftly and effectively mesh remains to be seen. The 21st season of the DreamLeague, which will begin later this month, will be the next opportunity for fans to view them in action.
