A 34-year-old man was arrested by CISF personnel at Jamia Milia Islamia Metro Station for allegedly carrying a pistol and five live rounds, police said on Monday.

The police said also that the accused, Ameer Hamza Khan, a resident of southeast Delhi’s Zakir Nagar, hails from Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh.

The incident took place at about 10:20 am when a person along with a handbag came to the frisking point at the metro station and put his bag on the input roller of the X-BIS machine for x-ray screening.

Head Constable of CISF noticed a pistol inside the bag during the security screening, following which the conveyor belt was stopped and the man was not allowed entry to the station.

The bag was physically checked in the presence of the passenger and a country-made pistol along with five live rounds of 9 mm caliber were found inside the bag.

During the inquiry, the man stays in Jamia Nagar and is a Maths teacher at a local institute at Gurugram. He could not reply satisfactorily about the presence of the pistol and live rounds in his bag. He also said that he was unaware of the same.
