Man beaten to death for firing at barking dog in Bihar’s Rohtas

Two separate FIR has been lodged against the incident. First FIR is filed deals with the firing by the deceased and the second FIR deals with the attack on Gopal.

Rohtas man beaten to death for firing at barking dog: Bihar

55-year-old Gopal Ram was allegedly beaten to death by the villagers after he shot three bullets at a pet dog of his neighbour for continuously barking at him in Bihar’s Rohtas district.

Out of anger, the villagers started beating Gopal with sticks which lead to major head injuries. He was admitted to Sasaram Hosptial where he was declared dead on Saturday.

As per the SHO of Darigaon police station Umersh Kumar, the incident took place in Beladhi village Darihat police station area in the district at 9:30 am when the pet dog of Vinod Ram started barking at the deceased. It was then when he shot two bullets at the dog which missed the target. The third bullet accidentally hit Vinod’s daughter Bhumika who rushed out after hearing the gunshots.

Later, Bhumika was taken to Sasaram Sadar Hospital and is out of danger now.

Vinod Kumar said, “Villagers attacked Gopal out of anger, but their motive was not to kill him. However, his injuries proved to be deadly.

Two separate FIR has been lodged against the incident. First FIR is filed deals with the firing by the deceased and the second FIR deals with the attack on Gopal.

According to the Sasaram SDPO Laxman Prasad, “The identity of those involved in the attack on Gopal Ram is being ascertained. The culprits won’t be spared.”
