PatnaIn Damodarpur area of Kanti at outskirts of Muzaffarpur city, garment businessman Mohammad Sohail (45) was killed by unidentified men when he was returning from his shop named Saba Dresses. This happened when he was about to reach his home. Immediately after this incident local population out of fury chased the bike borne assailants for 200 metres but failed to catch.

Victim’s wife was Sarpanch from her paternal village Baarmadpur. Speaking on the incident, the SSP Manoj Kumar said, few days back Sohail had a fight and was threatened. City SP, SSP along with senior district officials reached the crime spot. They undertook the search operation in nearby areas.

After the incident, local population angrily demanded immediate arrest of criminals by blocking the main road.

Family background of Md Sohail has remained political. His grandfather, Anwar Hussain was a Sarpanch of panchayat, his wife Nishat Hussain was also a former Sarpanch and he himself had fought previous panchayat poll from Vishwanathpur panchayat.

According to locals, the Muzaffarpur businessman was vocal against anti-social activities and illicit liquor supply.

In a similar incident in Arrah, bussinessman was gunned down in broad day light. The dead businessman was identified as Dhananjay Soni who owned a jewellery shop in Akhgaon Bazar of Arrah.

The local reached the spot after the crime demanding for justice. According to police, the investigation is underway.

A month back, owner of iconic Pal Cake and Sweets situated on Dak Bungalow Road in Patna city, 43-year old Purushottam Kumar was shot dead. He was killed and a bag of cash was looted.

Three months back, Bihar’s leading industrialist and BJP leader, Gunjan Khemka was gunned down outside his cotton factory situated in the industrial area of Hajipur. He was also the convener of the state BJP’s small industries cell.

This created a lot of buzz in state’s political circle. Being an influential businessman, apart from opposition, dissent voices were heard from the ruling alliance itself.

Back to back murder of businessman across Bihar is nothing but a mockery of law and order on which government of Nitish Kumar remains tight lipped as usual.
