Former Prime Minister and veteran Congress leader Manmohan Singh is set to file his nomination for the Rajya Sabha seat from Rajasthan. The 86-year-old politician will submit his name for the post on 13th August.

The Rajya Sabha seat has been lying vacant following the death of state Bharatiya Janata Party president Madan Lal Saini – who got elected last year when the saffron power was in power in the state. Now the Congress party is in majority in the legislative assembly with 100 MLAs in the 200 house Legislative Assembly.

Singh had earlier represented Assam in the Rajya Sabha for 28 years before his tenure ended earlier this year.
