Microsoft Edge’s New Feature to Save Webpage Screenshots: Microsoft Edge is constantly updated with new features, some of which are extremely useful and others of which are more perplexing. According to reports, the company is testing a new feature in its browser that will enable the saving of snapshots of visited web pages to the browser’s history. Normal consumers may be perplexed as to why Microsoft would want to take this action.

Microsoft Edge’s New Feature to Save Webpage Screenshots

Microsoft Edge 117, which is presently available for testing in the Canary and Dev channels, includes a new feature that enables you to capture screenshots of each page you visit. This feature is titled “Save site screenshots to History,”

This new feature in Microsoft Edge initially appears to be quite beneficial. When enabled, you can access any page from your browsing history offline. As mentioned by Neowin, you can also observe a website’s thumbnail by hovering over it in the history. Microsoft has, however, given this feature a confusing moniker and description.

It could mislead users into believing that it captures photographs of every website they visit. In addition, Microsoft has not yet explained how it will safeguard the privacy and security of its users, given that it will save web pages for later access.

Microsoft should at least provide the option to manually save selected web pages as an alternative to capturing screenshots of every site. Hopefully, developers will distribute this feature in the stable channel in a more polished and refined state.

The feature is presently in testing and is currently disabled by default. If you are using the Edge Canary or Dev channel, you can enable the feature by navigating to Settings > Privacy and Services. You can also visit the edge://settings/privacy link directly to look for the option.
