After a 14-year-old boy allegedly committed suicide by jumping from fifth floor in Mumbai, the police are probing if the death is linked to online ‘Blue Whale suicide’ challenge.  Blue Whale suicide challenge is an online social media group that allegedly provokes teens to kill themselves to win the challenge.

The police officials have not found anything in boy’s phone. However, the boy’s friends on WhatsApp groups chatted about his death being related to the online suicide challenge.

Reportedly, ‘Blue Whale challenge’ tell participants via social media to complete ‘self-harm challenge’ over a period of 50 days. It allegedly persuades them to win the game by committing suicide.  The task also ranges from harming self, watching horror films to waking up at odd hours.  According to reports, the fatal game has killed over 100 children in Russia and UK.

The Meghwadi police are probing the case further to find the reason behind the suicide. The police said around 5 pm, the class IX student went to his building’s terrace and jumped.  The police will question his friends on Monday.
