The NEET-UG 2025 results have been put on hold for now by the Madras High Court. This decision came after a group of students from Chennai filed a plea saying they faced major problems during the exam. Justice V Lakshminarayanan gave this temporary order on Friday and said the case would be heard again on June 2.
The students explained that they took their NEET exam at PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya CRPF-Avadi in Chennai on May 4. But a power cut happened at the centre from around 3 PM to 4:15 PM because of a storm and heavy rainfall. The students claimed that there was no generator at the centre, so they had to sit for the exam in low light. Rainwater also came into the hall, making things worse. They were told to shift seats because of the water, which only added to the stress and broke their focus during the test.

They said this was very unfair because students in other centres didn’t face these issues and had better exam conditions.
The students feel that the authorities should have treated everyone equally. They said that what happened to them goes against Article 14 of the Constitution, which talks about equal treatment for all, and also violates their rights under Article 21, which protects life and liberty. They said NEET is a national exam and must give everyone the same chance. But in their case, this was not done.
