Indian Biogas Association: During the recently held Renewable Energy India Expo 2023, new investments totaling Rs 2,755 crore were committed to the Indian Biogas Association (IBA).

IBA Chairman Gaurav Kedia told PTI, ”Indian Biogas Association (IBA), an industry association comprised of operators, manufacturers, and planners of bioenergy facilities, has received a Rs 2,755 crore investment commitment at the Renewable Energy India Expo 2023.” During the recently concluded Renewable Energy India (REI) Expo, which took place in Greater Noida from October 4 to 6, the association signed joint ventures (JVs), memorandums of understanding (MOUs), and received LoIs (letters of intent).

Kedia stated that the industry has made this promise, which is anticipated to be fulfilled within the next three years.

Kedia reported that companies from a variety of countries, including Germany, Sweden, and Italy, were very interested.

”We have signed several MoUs totaling over Rs 1 trillion for joint ventures and could receive interest for an additional 54 Letters of Intent for the establishment of compressed biogas facilities in the country…” he stated.

The IBA is India’s first nationwide and professional biogas association for biogas plant operators, manufacturers, and administrators, as well as public policy, science, and research representatives. The association was founded in 2011 and restructured in 2015 to promote a biogas-based sustainable future.

The IBA collaborates with numerous international organisations, including the German Biogas Association, to promote the growth of India’s bioenergy industry.

The Bio-energy pavilion was supported by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy as well as a number of prominent national and international industry leaders.

The exhibition is one of the largest trade shows and events concentrating on renewable energy (bio-energy, solar, and wind) and energy efficiency technologies, such as electric vehicles and battery storage.

The purpose of the exhibition is to expedite India’s commitment to net zero emission.

IBA President A R Shukla stated, ”This year’s REI expo was a tremendous success in light of the G20 Nations’ announcement of the Global Biofuel Alliance. This has generated a positive outlook within the industry. Shukla noted that the sector has been requesting a nodal ministry or organisation similar to the National Skills Development Organisation from the government, given the enormous potential for energy independence in the coming decades.

The development of the Biogas industry can provide a solution that can completely supplant fossil fuels, according to Shukla, if the proper measures are taken.
