The Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign is echoed in this country, everywhere. It is repeatedly said that daughters are not less than sons. And how daughters are getting better or are walking side by side of sons in every sphere of society. Nevertheless, in Jharkhand’s Chatra the father and grandmother killed two months old innocent girl by brutally strangling her.
Her fault was only that she was a girl. After receiving the case, the police arrived on the spot and arrested the accused. This incident again proves how our country is still far from applying the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ slogan in their daily life and in their rigid mindset.
Gayatri Devi, the mother of that girl alleged that her husband and mother-in-law strangled her two-month-old innocent. And she was punished for being a girl. The girl is said to have been murdered by her father Hemraj Sidon by choking the throat. The grandmother also joined the crime, as per mother Gayatri Devi.
The police arrested Father Hemraj and grandmother Malwa Devi and sent them to jail.
Gayatri Devi also told the Jharkhand police that her child’s name was Lakshmi. Her husband and mother-in-law were angry as soon as the girl was born. They tortured and taunted her. And at the same time, they always pressured her to kill the child.
