Odisha shocker! 12-year-old nephew beheaded by uncle; offered to appease god for good harvest

In a highly shocking case of superstitions taking a toll over human mind, an innocent 12-year-old boy was beheaded and sacrificed by his uncle in order to appease god for good harvest.

As per the reports, the incident happened at Jadamunda village under Komna police limits in Odisha’s Nuapada district yesterday in broad daylight.

Police said Chintamani Majhi, 48, and his nephew Debarchan Majhi, 18, elder brother of the deceased, had gone to their farmland to plough it. Dhansingh Majhi, the deceased, came to the farmland at around 9.30 am with food for his uncle and elder brother.

Later Chintamani asked Dhansingh to follow him to another farmland to cut a tree. The minor boy went with him. At around 10 am, Chintamani attacked the boy with a sharp weapon and severed the minor’s head.

The victim’s elder brother, who witnessed the incident from a distance, raised an alarm following which villagers gathered at the spot. They later informed cops and the accused was arrested.

Upon receiving the information of the incident, police rushed to he spot and detained Chintamani Majhi and seized the weapon used in the murderdetained Chintamani Majhi and seized the weapon used in the murder.

The police said the accused has confessed to the crime. Chintamani Majhi said he sacrificed his nephew as an offering for ‘Choru’, a local term that refers to the sacrifice offered to deities for bountiful harvest before the start of the new cropping season.
