93 year old man and his 88 year old wife from Kerala recovered from COVID-19 pandemic

Being described as a medical miracle, a 93-year-old man and his 88-year-old wife hailing from Ranni in Pathanamthitta district of Kerala have recovered from COVID-19.

They were expected to be discharged from Kottayam medical college soon, say sources.

Their discharge from hospital marks them as few of the oldest patients to beat the virus as COVID-19 where already the death rate is high among the elderly.

The couple had to go through multiple critical phases before they tested negative lately.

Kerala health minister KK Shailaja had put the elderly couple in the high-risk category because of their additional age-related complications.

The couple is the parents of a middle-aged man who had come from Italy with his wife and grown-up son last month and dodged screening at Cochin International Airport before they were traced by authorities. The elderly couple and other kins contracted the virus from the trio from Italy.

Five members of the family including the trio were discharged from Pathanamthitta government hospital recently.
