A Cobrapost investigation on Tuesday exposed how 36 celebrities belonging to the entertainment fraternity agreed accepting money in exchange of promoting a political party’s agenda through their social media pages.

While a long list of celebrities agreed for the deal, four top actors rejected the offer. The four were, Vidya Balan, Arshad Warsi, Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain star Saumya Tandon.

Cobrapost says in their press release that when they reached manager of Arshad Warsi following a preposition a day before, the manager said, also rejected the offer, his manager said, “Sandeep ji unfortunately maine actually kal sir se baat kee. Political campaign toh hum nahi kar payenge sir ko kuch aur laga pehle toh (Sandeep ji, I spoke to Sir [Arshad Warsi] yesterday. Unfortunately, we will not be able to do political campaign. Sir had thought it was something else).” The manager later added that, they have earlier received invitations for many elections but Warsi keeps himself away from political campaigning.

When Veteran Actor Raza Murad told Cobrapost that he does not have a Twitter account, according to the report, the non profit journalism company asked him to create one, to which Murad said, “Nahi mujhe nahi kholna yahan pe mujhe nahi kholna Twitter pe (No, I don’t want to open an account on Twitter).”

The Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain fame, Saumya Tandon outrightly rejected the offer put out by the Aniruddha Bahal founded media company. She was quoted by the report saying, “Main kisi bhi party se koi bhi affiliation personal ke liye nahi karna chahti kyonki sir mere sidhanton ke khilaaf hai. Bahut saare actors aapko paise ke liye bahut kuch karte nazar aayenge lekin agar main kuch decide karoongi toh wo tabhi karoongi jab main genuinely believe karti hoon usmein (I don’t want to have an affiliation with any political party for personal gain, because it is against my principles. You will find actors who do anything you want for money. But if I decide [to work for any party] I will do so only when I genuinely believe in it).”

Vidya Balan straightaway refused the propositions made by Cobrapost.
