The Union Cabinet held a weekly meeting in the Parliament annexe building this morning. Here’s what sources say happened:

– Prime Minister Narendra Modi took stock of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) outbreak in India.

– Health Minister Harsh Vardhan briefed the cabinet on measures taken to tackle the outbreak.

– Decision taken: Secretaries in the health, civil aviation, foreign, finance and commerce ministries to provide daily briefings on the coronavirus epidemic.

A meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cabinet began at around 9.40 am today in the Parliament annexe building, ANI reports.

On Thursday, the Lok Sabha conducted a marathon session without lunch or dinner breaks that lasted more than 12 hours. That’s six hours longer than normal timings: both Houses usually do seven-hour days. The Lok Sabha was debating demands for grants under the control of the railway’s ministry for 2020-21.
