Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday, April 9, said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) never promised to transfer Rs 15 lakhs into people’ bank accounts during the Lok Sabha elections 2014.

“We never said Rs 15 lakh will come..this was never said,” the senior BJP leader was quoted as saying. He added the party had said that it will take action against black money.

The Lucknow Member of Parliament (MP) said the action has been taken against black money. Bringing black money stashed abroad was one of the prime issues for 2014 Lok Sabha elections and the party had promised cracking down the black money kept in foreign banks.

The saffron party on Monday had released party manifesto. Senior BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, launched the manifesto, described as “Sankalp Patra”. The tagline for the party manifesto is “Phir Ek Bar, Modi Sarkar”. The opposition parties have criticised the BJP for not fulfilling promises made in 2014 Lok Sabha elections and making similar promises in the run-up to the 2019 general elections.
