Peaches are much more nutritious than you think, here are 5 health benefits of this fruit

We should feel lucky that we are living in an environment where we can have an enjoyable taste of many healthy fruits and vegetables. Peaches, which are a member of the stone fruit family, along with nectarines, plums and cherries, are often touted for their antioxidant benefits and more.

However, most of us do not value them, instead prefer to eat artificially created food, which is bad for health.

Biting into a fresh-picked stone fruit that’s so ripe and juicy that it drips down your chin, or diving into a slice of warm peach pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream melting on top is something that can’t be imagined. Therefore, eating peaches can help in smooth digestion and improve heart health.

Peaches are tasty small fruit with a fuzzy peel and a sweet white or yellow flesh. They are said to be drupes or stone fruit because their flesh surrounds a shell that houses an edible seed. According to Jenn Lavardera, RD, a nutrition expert for Naturipe Farms,  peaches contain beta-carotene, the healthful compounds you think of when you think of carrots and orange vegetables. Beta-carotene plays an important role in skin and eye health and is also a powerful antioxidant.

Moreover, as per the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) data, 150 g of one medium-size peach contains 58 calories which has less than 1 g fat. This fruit has also some micronutrients such as vitamin C, vitamin A, potassium, vitamin E, vitamin K, manganese and copper.

Peaches also contain chlorogenic acid, a potent antioxidant that has health-promoting advantages.

Check out health benefits you’ll reap when you bite in or when you make one of these delicious peach recipes:

1. Smooth Digestion – Peaches contain fibre, which smoothens the digestive tract and lowers the risk of gut disorders. Besides this, it also contains antioxidants that improve gut health.

2. Help Prevent Cancer – Study published in the National Institute of Health says, peaches contain polyphenols, a category of antioxidants shown to reduce the growth of cancer cells.

3. Improve Eye Health – Peaches come along with phytonutrients such as lutein and zeaxanthin which can improve eye health.

4. Good For Heart Health – The presence of potassium in peach helps lower blood pressure, which in turn improves heart health.

5. Healthy Skin – Vitamin C in peaches can help fight free radicals that cause oxidative stress and also help in the production of collagen which are the connective tissues that improve skin health.

Now, you only have to do is that you must drag peaches in the list of fruits on your diet.
