First RRTS Train ‘Namo Bharat’: “Namo Bharat” will be the name of India’s inaugural Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) train, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate on October 20 between Sahibabad and Duhai Depot.

The 17-kilometer priority section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor connecting Sahibabad and Duhai Depot will be inaugurated on Friday by Prime Minister Modi.

The train service will provide a 12-minute travel duration between Sahibabad and Duhai Depot, whereas the road journey would typically take 30–35 minutes.

Congress General Secretary in Charge of Communications Jairam Ramesh stated in response to the news that his self-obsession knows no bounds.

“After Namo stadium now Namo trains. There is simply no limit to his self-obsession,” Ramesh said.

Leader of the Congress Pawan Khera advised renaming the nation “Namo.”

First RRTS Train ‘Namo Bharat: What is RRTS?

The Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), an innovative commuter service that is committed to speed, capacity, and efficiency, distinguishes itself from both traditional rail systems and metropolitan areas.

It functions superiorly to traditional railway systems by offering dependable, frequent, and direct regional transportation.

In contrast to metros, it accommodates passengers desiring to cover a relatively greater distance in a shorter amount of time with fewer stations and at a faster velocity.

What are the impacts on the travel experience?

By providing air conditioning and comfortable seating, the priority section of RRTS will improve travel in Ghaziabad.

Transport alternatives thus far for commuters have been limited to private buses, taxis, or public autorickshaws and buses, which were congested with traffic and oppressive heat.

The operational pace of the RRTS trains, which were designed for 180 kmph, was evaluated at 160 kmph. Nonetheless, its average pace will be 100 kilometres per hour. The Railway Board authorized RRTS to operate on the priority corridor at a maximum speed of 160 kilometres per hour in June.

By road, the 17-kilometre distance between the two stops requires 30–35 minutes to traverse; with RRTS, it can be completed in a mere 12 minutes.

The priority section spanning 17 kilometres comprises the following five stations: Duhai, Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, and Duhai Depot.

Constructed at a vertical distance of 26 meters, Ghaziabad station will surpass all other stations along the Delhi-Meerut corridor in height.

Those who commute to and from Delhi on a daily basis will also find the new service convenient.

By integrating the Ghaziabad station with the Shaheed Sthal Metro station on the Red Line of the Delhi Metro, passengers are able to transfer between modes of transportation without difficulty. Similar arrangements are being implemented wherever a Metro station is in close proximity along the entire span.

Four kilometers separate the Sahibabad RRTS station and the Vaishali Metro Station, which is located on the blue line of the Delhi Metro.

Upon reaching complete functionality, an RRTS station will be established in Vaishali, which will be linked to the Vaishali Metro Station.

The NCRTC ensured that all passengers would have adequate comfort and that the train would be accessible to all during its design, incorporating provisions for wheelchairs and stretchers, as well as large elevators.

Moreover, in order to guarantee a dependable mobile network for train passengers, the NCRTC issued a request for proposals for mobile coverage solution providers last month. This will guarantee that passengers are able to access a mobile network while traversing the tunnels that link subterranean stations along the RRTS corridor.

Additionally, once the entire segment is operational, the RRTS will provide the convenience of a metro train while maintaining the service distance of traditional railways.

By 2025, the 82-kilometer Delhi-Meerut segment is anticipated to be finished at an expenditure of Rs 30,000 crore.
