PM Modi’s Visit to Gaya: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and launch development projects valued at about Rs 13,000 crore across power, road, health, urban development, and water supply sectors in Gaya, Bihar. Among highlights are increased regional growth, better train connection with two new train services, and the Aunta–Simaria bridge on the River Ganga. Check out the project list and go through the article to monitor PM Modi’s trip to Bihar.

PM Modi’s Visit to Gaya: Key Highlights

Aunta–Simaria Bridge

One of the most anticipated inaugurations is the Aunta–Simaria Bridge over the Ganga. This 8.15 km structure, including a six-lane stretch, will cut down travel by over 100 km for heavy vehicles moving between North and South Bihar. Built at a cost of about ₹1,870 crore, it is expected to ease traffic and boost connectivity to the sacred Simaria Dham. Alongside, road stretches like the Bakhtiyarpur–Mokama four-lane NH-31 and parts of NH-120 will also be opened, making travel smoother for thousands of commuters every day.

Buxar Thermal Power Plant

Energy and health are two areas getting a big lift. The PM will dedicate the Buxar Thermal Power Plant (660×1 MW), a mega project of ₹6,880 crore that will strengthen Bihar’s power supply. On the health front, the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre in Muzaffarpur is set to open its doors. This modern facility, with OPD, labs, ICUs and advanced treatment units, will bring world-class cancer care closer to families who earlier had to travel to metro cities.

Namami Gange Campaign

Water supply and sanitation are also high on the agenda. Under the Namami Gange mission, a new sewage treatment plant in Munger (₹520 crore) will be inaugurated to reduce pollution and improve river health. The PM will also lay foundation stones for urban projects worth ₹1,260 crore, which include modern sewage systems and clean drinking water facilities in towns like Daudnagar, Jehanabad, Bodhgaya and Jamui. For many families, this will mean clean tap water and better sanitation right at their doorstep.

PMAY-Gramin: PM Modi’s Visit to Gaya

In a socially significant gesture, PM Modi will hand over homes to 12,000 rural beneficiaries under PMAY-Gramin and to 4,260 urban families under PMAY-Urban. This “Grih Pravesh” ceremony will mark a new beginning for thousands of households who will step into their own homes for the very first time.

Amrit Bharat Express and Buddhist Circuit Train

The biggest highlight for railway passengers is the launch of two train services. The Gaya–Delhi Amrit Bharat Express will begin its inaugural run on August 22, with regular bi-weekly operations starting August 28. The train will depart Gaya every Sunday and Thursday at 4:30 PM and reach Delhi the next day around noon. In return, it will leave Delhi on Mondays and Fridays at 2:00 PM and arrive in Gaya the following morning at 8:55 AM.

Alongside this, the Buddhist Circuit Train (Vaishali–Koderma) will be flagged off, aiming to enhance tourism by linking Bihar’s Buddhist heritage sites.

PM Modi’s Gaya visit carries both developmental and political agenda. Gaya is not only an ancient spiritual city but also a politically sensitive region. With the expansion of infrastructure, the planned religious corridor in Bodhgaya, and the ₹300-crore runway expansion of Gaya International Airport, the visit reflects an effort to blend heritage with modern growth while also re-energizing NDA’s political base in Bihar.
