In the spirit of the holiday, anyone who discovers such a surprise must recite it before the person who gave it to them. Tweetspeak, founded in 2009 by a group of friends who enjoyed composing and sharing poetry on Twitter, created Poem on Your Pillow Day. Their small group rapidly grew in size and notoriety as a result of their frequent September celebrations. Tweetspeak was formally introduced on October 3, 2009, and acquired by T. S. Poetry Press, a notable publishing company, in March 2012. Since then, they have initiated and supported an abundance of poetry events.
This Day is currently sponsored by Tweetspeak Poetry and Meadowbrook Press. Tweetspeak has proposed that individuals submit #POPDay images of their pillow poems. On Poem on Your Pillow Day, friends or companions separated by distance can send each other a text message.
