#PunjabPolls2017: Arvind Kejriwal and Capt Amarinder Singh engage in ‘verbal duel’ on Twitter

Polls may be away for Punjab but Twitter is already burning with allegations and counter-allegations between Aam Admi Party and Congress. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Monday alleged that BJP ally Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) was funding Punjab Congress leader, Captain Amarinder Singh’s, poll campaign.
He wrote,“Sir, people talking in Punjab that you are using Majithia’s (Punjab Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia) drug money in your campaign. Is it true? You had saved him from CBI enquiry three years back.”

The verbal war had its origins in a few remarks made by the AAP supremo on Sunday where he had asked the Punjab Congress president why the Badals (Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Sukhbir Singh Badal) decided to drop the cases against Singh.
“Sir, Badals closed corruption cases against you just a few months before elections. Why? Punjab asking what’s the deal?” Kejriwal asked in a tweet.

Captain Amarinder Singh had an immediate answer as he tweeted: “Kejriwal better set his own house in order, before he sets his sights on Punjab” and said that it was his “desperate attempts to grab headlines.”

“Country is increasingly sick of your theatrics just to grab headlines!,”

The verbal duel moved on to each of them leveling allegations of “hiding from the truth” and “dared each other for a public debate.”

Kejriwal leveled these allegations after pictures emerged where Captain Amarinder Singh was seen “exchanging pleasantries” with Punjab cabinet minister Bikram Singh Majithia. They had a chanced meeting in Majitha on Wednesday where the former had come to cast the ballot.
